The Price is Right!
Because we are surrounded by lakes and rivers, its easy to take water for granted.

E S H O U L D N' T !

Not only is clean water precious, pumping it through our water system and heating it up, uses a whole lotta energy!

There are plenty of ways to cut back on water use.

Here are a few to start:

Are you really so dirty that you need a ˝ hour shower!!  A simple way to cut back on water is by using less!  Try taking shorter showers.
While you’re at it, cut back on the water you use for washing the dishes – don’t let that tap run on and on and on…
Turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth.  Use a water glass for rinsing.
A low-flow showerhead can cut the amount of water you use in the shower by half!
A toilet damn can cut the amount of water used by up to 5 litres a flush!
Wrapping hot water tanks and pipes can stop the escape of a lot of heat and energy.
Ask your parents to check the hot water thermostat.  By turning down the water heater to 135° they will keep the heater from using up too much energy.

FLUSHING FORTUNES!

The average Peterborough household uses over 1000 litres of water per day.  Toilet flushing makes up almost half of that!  Did you know that most toilets use up to 20 litres per flush.  That’s more than 13 BIG bottles of pop!  A whole lot of water!
